The Tom Bean Independent School District Board of Trustees met for a budget workshop on May 27, 2026, opening the session at 6:00 p.m. President James Hamilton called the meeting to order and trustees reviewed a list of draft priorities for the 2026–27 budget.
Board members discussed general components of the proposed budget rather than adopting specific dollar amounts. The workshop agenda listed the employee compensation plan, stipends, updates to clerical and manual trade salary schedules, discussion of a teacher intern program, district insurance salary schedule contributions, and district retention efforts as topics for consideration. The minutes do not record motions or votes on these items; they are listed as discussion topics for the board to consider in future meetings.
No members of the public spoke during the public forum. The board recorded attendance as James Hamilton (President), Beth Hale (Secretary), Shawna Merriman and Billy McCoy present; Tom Sharp and Colten Miller were absent. The record notes “The date was set for the next Regular Board Meeting for June 8, 2026.”
The workshop adjourned at 7:25 p.m. on a motion by Trustee Shawna Merriman, seconded by Trustee Beth Hale; the motion carried 4–0. The minutes show the four present trustees voting yea: James Hamilton, Beth Hale, Shawna Merriman and Billy McCoy.
