Pitman department reports: police statistics for October and public works progress on water main project

At the Nov. 12 meeting Councilwoman Milward presented October 2024 police department statistics: 2 DUI arrests for the month and 15 total DUI arrests for 2024; 14 motor vehicle crashes; 196 motor vehicle stops; 114 parking summonses; 66 traffic summonses; 85 written warnings; 21 total investigations; and 5 total criminal arrests. She reported a monthly cost for service of $1,515 and year‑to‑date cost of $17,728. Council noted that Deputy Chief Zander and Detective Barbetta attended budgeting and finance training and that Lieutenant Streater and Sergeant Carson are scheduled to attend in 2025.
Councilman Bially provided Water & Sewer and Highway Department updates: crews completed 18 water and sewer mark‑outs, cleared two sewer stoppages, jetted one sewer main, upgraded seven meter heads and continued work on the Roosevelt Ave water main project which passed a coliform bacteria test and a pressure test. Highway crews reported trash, recycling and leaf collection totals and solid waste/recycling tonnage and disposal costs for October (total cost $28,675.53; bag fees $1,050).
