Terre Haute Humane Society thanks county for shelter help, announces Clear the Shelters event and new full‑time vet

Shannon Giles (S6), executive director of the Terre Haute Humane Society, used the public comment period to thank county crews who graded the shelter driveway and removed debris, and to announce Clear the Shelters Month activities. Giles invited the public to an adoption event on Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., noting NBC will do a live broadcast and that adoption specials will be offered.
Giles also said the shelter has hired a permanent full‑time veterinarian who starts this month, and that the shelter plans a formal grand opening of the clinic in September. As Giles put it, "On the 22nd, We are going to have a big event from 10 to 4, at the shelter." She encouraged donations and sponsorships for animals that are not adopted.
