Borough Solicitor Vigilante told the Borough of Pitman council at its Oct. 28 work session that proposed amendments to the municipal parking ordinance would create limitations on portions of Mt. Vernon Avenue and South Summit Avenue near East Holly Avenue. He said the proposal followed a recommendation from Police Chief McAteer to improve safety where people enter and exit the nearby field.
"The proposed changes will help provide a safer environment on the corners of East Holly Ave. for people coming in and out of the field," Vigilante said. Council members did not take a final vote; the item was presented for discussion so staff can prepare ordinance language and a formal ballot for a future meeting. The discussion indicated staff and police will work together to identify specific curb segments and signage needs before council consideration.
