Troup ISD approves teacher probationary contracts and a 2% superintendent raise

On the superintendent's recommendation, the Board approved probationary teaching contracts for three hires for the 2026–2027 school year. Lisa Lewis moved to approve a probationary contract for Virginia Gayso (kindergarten), a probationary contract for Dina Miley (PreK), and an 11‑month dual probationary contract for Dakota Maradiaga (assistant band director); Todd Kelly seconded. The motion carried 7–0.
Later in the meeting, Homer Dickey moved to approve a 2% increase to the Superintendent's salary, to be effective July 1, 2026; Ty Lindsey seconded and the motion carried 7–0. The personnel approvals and salary increase were recorded as unanimous votes in open session following executive session.
