The Tarkington Independent School District Board voted Aug. 26 to approve HVAC equipment purchases to address failing systems at the elementary and high school campuses. The motion, made by Dwayne Stovall and seconded by Susan Rollins, passed with six yeas and one absence.
Chief Financial Officer Thad Lasater told the board some rooms were "getting very hot due to the failing system" and recommended authorizing equipment purchases that would also allow the district to procure additional HVAC items under the same contract for future repairs. When asked which company would perform the work, Mr. Lasater said the district would use "Star Services," and he updated that repairs "should be done in less than a week."
