Assistant Superintendent of Finance Brandon Milam presented the Texas Education Agency's Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) results and the district's annual investment report during a public hearing at the Dec. 9 board meeting. "The district received a score of 100 and a Superior Achievement Rating for the 2023-24 school year based on 2022-23 data," Milam told trustees.
Milam said TEA uses 21 indicators to assess financial management and that the required annual review of Tatum ISD's investment policy produced no changes to policy or strategy. He also shared the amount of interest the district earned from its money market accounts; the minutes do not list the specific dollar amount in the public record.
