Board to hire third‑party engineer after cracks and cupping appear in new gym floors

"So I'm in the process of engaging our insurance company, Gallagher, to have an expert 3rd party engineer come out and tell us the problem," Dr. Gagan said. He added that while a warranty or installer insurance might cover a faulty installation, the district could still be responsible depending on the engineer's findings and policy terms.
Board members asked whether the floors were currently a safety hazard; staff said the floors were usable for PE but looked older and the district seeks to have the problem diagnosed and a remedy negotiated with contractors and insurers as needed. Dr. Gagan said staff will share the engineer's findings and recommended next steps when available.
