Village staff presented to the Infrastructure, Environment Committee a proposal to replace the standby generator at the Kasuba Lift Station, citing the facility's age and reduced pump capacity. "The lift station at at Kasuma, which is on Baldwin, North Of Rand Road is 25 years old," staff said, adding that the station "only operates 2 of 3 pumps" and has "served its useful life."
Staff recommended a design-build procurement to install a 250-kilowatt generator to run all three pumps, noted that natural gas service was not readily available at the site, and requested a waiver of the bidding process to achieve equipment compatibility. "A $125,600 is budgeted," staff said, and recommended "a contract with Newcastle Electric in an amount not to exceed $118,500." The committee voted to place the item on the council's consent agenda for final approval.
