Waelder ISD creates Safe and Supportive School Program team to conduct behavioral threat assessments

On Aug. 18 the board established a Safe and Supportive School Program Team to conduct behavioral threat assessments and adopted TASB- and counsel-recommended policies for the program; the actions were unanimous.
The Waelder ISD board voted Aug. 18, 2025 to establish a Safe and Supportive School Program Team charged with conducting behavioral threat assessments, and it adopted policies and procedures recommended by TASB and district legal counsel for the program.
The motion to establish the team was moved by Troy Sullivan and seconded by Avery Williams; the motion to adopt the recommended policies was moved by Troy Sullivan and seconded by JoAnn Ibarra. Both motions carried unanimously. The minutes record that the team will follow TASB guidance and legal counsel recommendations when performing threat-assessment duties.
