Officials say bike-park corrective plan under review; grant could help but costs remain unclear

One commissioner told the meeting that prior presentations included figures as high as about $800,000 for completing the project; other speakers said that a smaller sum might be sufficient depending on the scope and whether bathrooms, lighting and water lines were included. A staff representative said the outstanding state grant rounds offer awards that have ranged from a minimum near $50,000 to as much as $250,000, but that the project might not score highly because the community already has a relatively large park acreage per capita in the grant's scoring radius.
Commissioners asked staff to provide the corrective-action plan, current cost estimates and a timeline so the council and public can better understand what grants can realistically cover and what additional fundraising will be needed.
