Deb Duke, fire chief with the Bullock Fire District, told the Blue Lake Public Safety Commission that the district handled 26 calls in the previous month, including three traffic collisions, 12 fire-related calls and nine medical responses. "In last month, along, we had 26 calls, 3 calls for traffic collisions, 12 calls for fire, 9 calls for medical, and then 2 calls for other," Duke said, noting four of the fire calls were confirmed working-structure incidents that required an investigation.
Duke described the district's mutual-aid arrangements with neighboring volunteer departments and Cal Fire and said multi-structure incidents are rare but require coordinated responses across agencies. She told commissioners the district recently graduated six volunteers from its academy and expects to resume more active recruitment next month, while continuing to rely on mutual aid when resources are stretched.
