Board approves Waterloo carpet and painting work from sinking fund

Facilities staff requested board approval to authorize Waterloo carpet and painting work at a cost not to exceed $87,336.95, to be funded from the sinking fund. A board member confirmed the work covers the entire Waterloo project except two areas funded by bond work; administration confirmed the packet excluded those bond areas. A motion to approve the purchase from the sinking fund passed by roll call, 7–0.

During discussion a board member noted that disclosure forms about familial relationships had been included in the vendor packet and asked why they were present; staff explained the forms are a standard part of major request packets and are used to attest whether a familial conflict exists. Administration said inclusion of the forms is intended to ensure transparency and does not in itself disqualify a vendor.
