Raisinville students, staff highlight Roundup program as suspensions fall and positive entries climb

Raisinville Elementary school leaders described how a monthly "Roundup" assembly and integrated social-emotional lessons have helped improve school climate. Restorative-practices coordinator Darren Poach told the board the school's positivity ratio was "49 to 1," well above the commonly cited 4-to-1 goal, and said referrals fell 42% in trimester two, from 95 to 55.
Poach tied those metrics to the school's PBIS work and social-emotional curricula. "Roundup is an important part of our PBIS program," he said, citing use of the Zones of Regulation and adopted Trails lessons. The presentation also noted positive Kickboard entries increased from 7,247 to 33,727 (a 363% increase), which presenters attributed to intentional staff recognition and student reflection activities. Student board delegate Riley Tucker and Positive School Climate Liaison Fiona White joined staff in describing how the monthly event recognizes staff and student achievements and encourages peer support.
School leaders said the Roundup routine includes guest readers, grade-level presentations and awards such as "Marigold of the Week" and student-of-the-month honors. Superintendent Shaw and trustees thanked the presenters and invited community members to upcoming events described in the superintendent's remarks.
