At the Monroe Public Schools Board of Education meeting on March 11, Superintendent Shaw reported that the district has completed administrator appointments related to the ongoing redesign and that elementary teachers were notified yesterday of the buildings where they will teach. "Our goal is to have that out, next week along with the start and end times for those buildings," Superintendent Shaw said.
Shaw told the board the next step is for teachers to work with building principals to determine specific grade-level assignments and that district staff will publish a running timeline showing when cleaning, building moves and professional development will occur. When asked about teacher retention, Shaw said no staff had resigned because of placements so far and reminded the board that "April 1 is the date... as part of the contract to have notification to us for retirements," noting that some movement through retirements or resignations may still occur over the coming months.
