Trustees select VLK Architects, delegate contract authority and approve Job Order Contract method for high school project

The board selected VLK Architects to design restrooms, storage and concessions for the Waller High School Athletic Field and Track Complex and delegated authority to the superintendent to negotiate, finalize and execute the architect contract.
Director of Construction Scott Walker recommended the selection "based on demonstrated competence and qualifications," and the board unanimously approved the recommendation. Trustees also approved using a Job Order Contract project delivery method for the work and authorized the superintendent or designee to select a cooperative Job Order Contractor and execute Job Orders; the board required that any Job Order of $500,000 or greater be brought back to the board for ratification. Vice President Jeff Flukinger moved the architect selection and procurement method motions; both carried 5‑0.
