WASHINGTON โ Pursuant to clause 13 of rule 1, the clerk told the House that the journal of the previous day's proceedings was approved. The clerk then led the chamber in the Pledge of Allegiance and announced an adjournment to the next stated time.
"Pursuant to clause 13 of rule 1, the journal of the last days proceedings is approved," the clerk stated on the floor. The pledge was recited immediately afterward: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the Republic for which it stands, 1 nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The clerk closed the session with an adjournment notice reading, "the house stands adjourned until 9AM on Thursday, 08/06/2006." That adjournment date appears to conflict with other dates in the record (the communication from the Speaker is dated 08/03/2026), which suggests a transcription or typographical error in the adjournment notice.
