Doctor Katz, representing Township High School District 211, told the council Dec. 14 that the district is launching a community engagement initiative to develop a five‑year strategic plan focused on what graduates should know and be able to do by 2021. The initiative will combine electronic surveys, random telephone surveys, high‑school listening sessions and open community meetings. "We will have some random telephone surveying, and I'll make sure that you're fully informed about that and then just some informal listening sessions," Katz said, and invited village participation.
Katz said the effort aims to gather input from residents, businesses and schools so the district can align its curriculum and programs with community expectations for students' future roles in the workforce and community. Council members thanked Katz and indicated they would assist in outreach through village communications channels.
