Proposed ordinance would create road-opening waiver process; waivers considered for two West Long Branch properties

Borough Attorney Baxter told the council that the public works subcommittee developed "an ordinance that will offer a procedure for road opening waivers to be granted under certain circumstances, as this issue has come up frequently with residential requests." He said a resolution on the evening's agenda would allow waivers in conformance with the ordinance's stipulations for 44 Community Drive and 22 Girard Avenue.
During public comment, resident Bill Mangan addressed the waiver for 44 Community Drive and said he understood the conditions. Mangan acknowledged "that he understands and will adhere to the T&M requirement for the road as well as the certificate of occupancy requirement." Council discussion also included letters from residents about zoning changes; Councilman Bray recommended sending specific questions to the planner and engineer before the council deliberates further on zoning matters.
