Board members pressed staff on the mechanics of the Adidas/Game 1 relationship after the athletics presentation. Staff said the district has generated roughly $40,000 this year from a combination of annual spend and signing bonus and that total spend is currently in the neighborhood of $75,000; at that threshold the district can expect a rebate or credit at fiscal year end. "So about an extra 8,000 that will come back to us at the end of our fiscal year," staff said when explaining incentive tiers.
District staff clarified that rebates do not arrive as unrestricted cash but as credits that must be used through the Adidas/Game 1 program (for example, toward uniforms or other gear overseen by the Game 1 portal). Board members asked whether the credits are restricted to vendor purchases and whether any documentation of the use of credits would be included in future board budget materials. Staff agreed to prepare a budget‑focused follow up that shows how sponsorships, rebates and vendor credits are tracked and reported to the board.
