The board received a comprehensive bond progress update covering prior bid packs, completed projects and planned work in upcoming bid packs. Staff summarized earlier construction at the high school, elementary secure entrances, mechanical upgrades and ceiling and bathroom renovations.
Staff said much of the core bond work is complete but that about $2.5 million remains available for remaining projects. "It's about 2,500,000 left," Steve said during the summary. Directors discussed targeting remaining funds toward priority items such as boilers, HVAC and completing secure vestibules where possible; staff cautioned that escalation in construction costs can change expected outcomes and that the district sometimes leverages sinking funds or contingency lines for emergent repairs.
Board members also discussed the tradeoffs in finishing large items (for example, whether to complete a full high‑school secure vestibule or a more limited modification) and noted the importance of using engineers and architects to prioritize critical items. Staff said they would circulate an updated sinking‑fund priority list and escalation estimates to inform the next budgeting decisions.
Next steps: staff to provide updated priority/sinking‑fund lists and cost estimates and to recommend sequencing for remaining projects.
