State auditor staff demonstrated a newly developed public-reserves dashboard that consolidates annual financial-report figures, deposit reports and investment records. Presenters highlighted new functionality: an "adjust for inflation" toggle using BLS CPI-U averages, separate tabs for deposit versus investment reporting, an explorer by bank name, and heat maps showing percent and dollar changes across government types.
The dashboard lets users compare government types (school districts, charter schools, cities, redevelopment agencies) and view medians, percent changes and raw-dollar heat maps. A presenter explained the reasoning: "we also wanted to include a heat map of the actual dollars because some of those percent changes... it's like 1 entity started with $10 and, like, 1000. So we're not just looking at that and being like, why is that increasing so much when it's not truly that big of a value?" Members asked for a 5-year rolling-change metric and clearer color scales; presenters agreed to add those features and to surface subtotals and filters (including removing PTIF from deposit views).
The presenters flagged a modest data-quality problem—several near-duplicate investment records—that produced an anomalous 2022 spike in treasury securities for selected government types. The auditor team committed to investigate duplicates, refine categories (investments vs. deposits) and provide methodology notes for classifying banks.
