District presents new NWEA MAP norms and early K-2 results; trustees press for Bluebonnet implementation supports

"This year, NWEA MAP, for the 2025 updated the norms... For example, in math... to be considered at the meets performance in the fall, you're required to get anywhere between the 78 percentile to the 94," the academic lead (Solano) said, explaining the norm adjustments and how they affect targets for kindergarten through second grade.
Trustees asked detailed implementation questions about teacher training cadence, fidelity to the Bluebonnet adoption, class-size waivers, and supports for special populations. Trustees asked administration to present midyear MAP comparisons and campus-level breakdowns, and requested a district plan showing which campuses need additional resources and what targeted interventions (tutoring, ACE/21st Century programming) will be used to support those campuses.
Instructional leaders said they have frequent progress monitoring, instructional rounds, and six-week training cycles to build teacher capacity and fidelity to the new math adoption, and they committed to providing trustees with campus-level data and resource requests to inform board support.
