Administration outlined progress on multiple bond-funded capital projects and timelines. Superintendent Rivera and district facilities staff said roofing work on select campuses (BGAZA, Mary Hogue Central, and portions of Margo) is scheduled to complete by December, restroom renovations are scoped as full renovations (tile, partitions and plumbing) at Margo and Bigarza with additional cafeteria restrooms to meet code, and the West Weslaco High tennis-court resurfacing is under contract with completion expected by April.
"We're addressing all the roofs for all the schools in need... We should have these schools complete by December," the superintendent said, explaining those projects come from the 2023 bond. Facilities staff added that restroom work includes full renovation and additional fixtures to meet code requirements, and that the West Weslaco East track resurfacing has reached substantial completion, with the district finishing closeout steps with the inspector.
Trustees asked for scope details during the meeting and were told the restroom projects will include tile replacement, partitions and new plumbing; trustees requested the construction timeline and scope be posted for public clarity and asked administration to bring contract rankings and funding-source confirmations onto the consent agenda when required.
