The Planning Commission approved a floodplain zoning ordinance amendment that updates the ordinance to reference a FEMA letter of map revision for floodplain boundary changes affecting Prairie Highlands Corporate Park. The chair called for the motion, and the commission adopted the amendment by voice vote.
Peggy, a village staff member, told the commission this change reflects work already performed under earlier Village Board resolutions and approved by state and federal agencies. "FEMA had issued a final letter of map amendment approving the work that was done through the letter of map revision, the LOMAR 20455361R, that will become effective on 08/07/2025," she said. She said previous board actions adjusted the floodplain to fill in 66,671 cubic feet and create 84,067 cubic feet of floodplain to allow construction of roadways, a bridge crossing the unnamed tributary to the Des Plaines River, and related culvert work.
The ordinance amendment removes references to earlier CLOMAR approvals and adds the FEMA LOMR citation; the chair confirmed no public comments were received during the hearing on this item and the commission proceeded to approve the amendment. The motion on item 6(a) was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
