Board adopts proclamations for Police and Public Works weeks; approves disposal of surplus firearms and other routine items

Trustees approved proclamations designating National Police Week (May 11–17) and National Public Works Week (May 18–24), authorized sale of 19 surplus department firearms to a licensed company, amended the Lake Andrea beer garden hours, tabled a landscaping contract and approved appointments to boards and commissions.
At its May 10 meeting the board adopted two proclamations and several routine administrative items.
Police Chief Smetana presented Resolution 25‑10 designating May 11–17 as National Police Week and was thanked by trustees; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. Director Tom Hupp presented Resolution 25‑11 recognizing May 18–24 as National Public Works Week and described the theme and importance of public‑works services; the board approved that resolution as well.
The board also authorized Resolution 25‑16 to dispose of 19 surplus firearms to a federally licensed firearms company after soliciting two offers and selecting the higher bid. Trustees approved an amendment to the Lake Andrea beer garden license to change 2025 hours per a request from J. Ziemba Enterprise LLC (licensee John Ziemba). The award of a landscaping contract to David J. Frank Landscaping was tabled to June 9, and the board approved appointments to village boards and commissions as presented by the Village President.
