Weimar ISD schedules Aug. 29 public hearing on $10.86 million preliminary 2024–25 budget

The Weimar ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 6 unanimously approved publication of a public hearing on the proposed 2024–25 budget and tax rate to be held Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The preliminary proposed operating budget presented to trustees totals $10,856,884.
Board materials show the budget is based on a $0.6169 maximum compressed rate plus five "golden pennies" and a $0.21 interest-and-sinking (I&S) rate. Trustees were told overall property-tax values increased but, because of the lower compressed tax rate, local tax collections are expected to fall; staff indicated the projected shortfall would be made up with state aid. The board will consider final approval of the budget and tax rates at the Aug. 29 meeting. Motion to publish the hearing was made by Brian Christen and seconded by Jim Sanders; the board voted unanimously.
