Village names Jelly Belly Lane for longtime trustee Michael J. Serpe

The Village of Pleasant Prairie Board of Trustees unanimously adopted Resolution 25‑12 on May 10 to change the official street name of Jelly Belly Lane to honor Michael J. Serpe.
Planning staff read the resolution noting Serpe’s service on multiple village bodies dating to 1978, including the Park Commission, Police and Fire Commission, the Plan Commission and as a village trustee from 1990 until April 21, 2020. Trustee Mike moved adoption and the board approved the measure by voice vote.
At the ceremony, the honoree said he was surprised and grateful. "Something I never envisioned happening would be a street named after me," said Michael J. Serpe, the former trustee. Trustees praised his long record of volunteer and municipal service; one remarked that Serpe helped guide Pleasant Prairie’s growth and economic development over many years.
The resolution sets the new street name to take effect in August 2025 (the resolution text states an effective date of 08/01/2025). The board also directed staff to coordinate signage and address updates for affected properties; specific updated address formats were discussed in the reading of the resolution but contained inconsistent transcriptions in the record and will be finalized administratively.
