Voluntary Tennessee meat-labeling program to promote in-state producers moves forward

Representative Grylls told the committee he had met with livestock producers and industry partners to design a voluntary Tennessee meat-labeling and promotion program that would allow producers to label products as born and butchered in Tennessee. "This bill would create a voluntary Tennessee meat labeling and promotion program for livestock products produced here in the state," Grylls said, adding the effort is intended to help local producers reach new markets.
Members raised no objections and the committee voted 15-0 to move HB 22-52 to Government Operations.
