Chet, who presented a brief athletics update at the work session, described several recent developments intended to expand student opportunities and community engagement.
"We've signed a contract with Adidas in game 1 and has provided this year alone upwards of $40,000 in, free trade," Chet said, adding the district also created a co‑op program that places students in event management, game production and multimedia roles. Chet said three students are currently working in the co‑op, two of whom are student athletes.
Chet said the district started a tutor program for athletes, expanded middle‑school opportunities and arranged transportation partnerships so more teams can travel without third‑party charters. The district also negotiated a streaming deal that remains pay‑walled for nonresidents but provides free access to Monroe zip codes to increase local viewership.
Board members thanked Chet for the rapid growth in social media engagement and asked him to return with additional budget details and targets for participation from under‑served students. The board said it will put the athletics update on a future agenda for fuller presentation with slides.
