City Manager Jon C. Williams distributed a draft ordinance proposing a residential overlay district for the downtown area that would place restrictions on building sizes and said staff will provide examples illustrating how the ordinance would be applied for commissioner feedback. He also updated commissioners on construction and plans for a new Boys and Girls Club, Orange County’s stormwater drainage project in the East Winter Garden historic area, and new equipment installed at Zanders Park.
Williams said he recently visited Tallahassee to meet with the local delegation about state appropriations for the wastewater treatment facility and reported that Senator Bankson had indicated potential sponsorship; the city is awaiting confirmation. Commissioners offered acknowledgements: Commissioner Lisa L. Bennett noted equipment for the Jessie Brock Center, Commissioner Iliana R. Jones and Commissioner Chloe Johnson thanked staff for their work, and Commissioner Colin Sharman announced the death of Senator Geraldine Thompson and shared brief remarks.
