President Cody Phillips called the hearing to order at 7:30 p.m.; board members Brad Bawcom, Lance Kane, Jonathan Killian, Mark Lemons and Alison Strickland were recorded as present and Gene Pena as not present. Superintendent Kurt Ashmore said required disclosure documents related to the rating were available for public viewing and the hearing was closed at 7:34 p.m. with no comments from the public.
Speaking to the board, Ashmore summarized the rating: "Wellington ISD received an "A" for "Superior Achievement" and a district score of 100 for the 2023-2024 school year under the Schools FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) financial accountability system." He characterized the result as the state's highest rating and a demonstration of the district's financial management and reporting practices.
No motions or votes were recorded during the brief hearing. The district posted required disclosure materials as noted by Ashmore; there were no public comments during the hearing.
