The Village's engineering department presented bids for the 116th Street Water Main Extension, a project to upsize an existing 12‑inch main to 16‑inch and to install a 16‑inch main between Springbrook Road and 39th Avenue, extend water service to residential properties, install fire hydrants and resurface the westbound lane of 116th Street.
Three bids were received and read aloud: Globe Contractors at $2,133,691.50, Wilkam Excavating at $2,214,989.00, and A.W. Oaks & Son at $2,297,965.00. Staff recommended awarding the contract to Globe Contractors as the lowest responsible bidder. The board moved and voted to award the contract to Globe Contractors for $2,133,691.50. Kurt noted that the 2025 capital improvement plan budgeted $3,700,000 for the project, funded by TID 5, and that preliminary resolution for special assessment will be presented in a future meeting; if assessments are used, they are expected to be deferred until property owners connect to municipal water.
