Representative Lankford told the committee HB1632 is an administrative bill intended to modernize the Tennessee dry cleaner environmental response program, strengthen eligibility rules, update oversight and remove outdated spending restrictions to accelerate cleanups and clarify redevelopment paths.
"The goals are pretty straightforward to protect long term stability of the industry funded cleanup program while ensuring that it continues to serve the small businesses that pay into it," Lankford said. With no questions, the committee voted 15–0 to send HB1632 to Government Operations.
The sponsor said the measure balances faster cleanups with protections for small-business contributors to the program.
