Committee approves bill to reorganize Tennessee State Fair under Agriculture Department

Representative Boyd told the committee HB1631 would replace the Tennessee State Fair and Exposition Commission with a new Tennessee Agriculture Fair and Livestock Show Act under the Department of Agriculture, moving oversight and authority to TDA.
"This would simply delete the Tennessee State Fair and Exposition Commission and create the Tennessee Agriculture Fair and Livestock Show Act," Boyd said. Committee members asked no questions and the bill passed unanimously to Government Operations (15–0).
The sponsor described the Tennessee State Fair’s relocation to Wilson County and said the change is intended to align fair operations with the department that oversees agriculture and livestock programming.
