The Okaloosa County Board accepted an FAA grant of $8,090,110 for rehabilitation of the 5,000‑foot parallel taxiway Alpha at Destin Executive Airport and approved contract awards for construction and construction‑phase services.
Airport and Transit Director Tracy Stage told commissioners the grant comes from airport entitlements and noted the county match ($425,795) is covered by airport revenues, not ad valorem taxes. He recommended awarding the construction contract to the lowest responsive bidder, Gum Creek Farms, for $7,459,074.30, and awarded the construction‑phase services task order to RS&H for approximately $1,051,811. "The county was awarded an FAA grant in the amount of $8,090,110," Stage said, laying out funding and procurement details. The board approved the three‑part package unanimously.
Staff said the project will address taxiway pavement and selected stormwater repairs adjacent to general‑aviation hangars and that the FAA entitlements and airport revenues cover the grant and match.
