Van Alstyne ISD adopts multi-year plan to reduce uncertified foundational-course teachers under HB2

The approved plan uses mentoring, certification partnerships and hiring priorities to reduce that share to 10 percent or less in K–5 reading and math by 2027–28 and to achieve full compliance by the 2029–30 school year. The plan also states the district will notify parents when their child is assigned to an uncertified teacher. Mark Freeman moved to approve the plan and the motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
