Councilmember Carl Lawson outlined upcoming Recreation Department events, including a Fishing Derby, the annual 5K run and registration for a six-week half-day summer camp. Councilmember Candace M. Faust described Green Team and Shade Tree Commission initiatives, Meadowbrook School's pollinator group project, an upcycle event, a Bike Rodeo grand opening, and a Tree Flowering Contest.
Faust said she is looking to have the DPW director attend the May 27 council meeting to discuss the tub grinder repair or purchase and the possibility of purchasing a garbage truck to bring refuse collection back in-house. No binding decisions were made; the items were left for staff follow-up and a future council discussion.
