Valley View ISD trustees approve 2026–27 budget, cite enrollment and salary assumptions

The Valley View ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the district budget for the 2026–27 school year for the General Fund, Child Nutrition Fund and Debt Service Fund as recommended by administration.
Finance Director Sandra Martinez told trustees during the public hearing that proposed salary increases are included in the budget. “Yes, that’s included in the budget,” Martinez said in response to a trustee question about whether the salary increase was accounted for. Trustees also asked about an enrollment forecast that showed three fewer students; Martinez estimated the enrollment reduction equated to about $831,000 and said the per-student figure used was $6,250 (excluding additional special-population funding). Trustee Jaime Gaona moved to approve the budget; Omar Garcia seconded and the motion passed (For: 4; Against: 0; Absent: 3).
