Council updates: East 2nd Street punch list, playground contract approved and asbestos inspection pending

City Administrator Carl Chalfant summarized several infrastructure items in his administrator’s report on July 6.
Chalfant said staff received the final playground contract on July 1 and forwarded it to the city attorney for approval. He also reported the city is still awaiting the asbestos inspection report for 321 W. 5th Street, an inspection request signed May 21, 2026.
On the East 2nd Street project, representatives from CES Group and Inline Construction reviewed remaining work at a June 12 construction meeting. CES and the contractor identified punch-list items including waiting for parts for the fire hydrant, placing more rock in the flume, planting grass, removing signage, and repairing a brick wall at 214 East 2nd Street. CES said concrete tested well but some cracks still need sealing. Chalfant said he will contact the parts supplier and requested a formal addendum/punch list from CES for council records.
The council took no separate vote on these items at the July 6 meeting; updates were provided for future follow-up and completion oversight.
