The Avon Volunteer Fire Department Building Committee reviewed an architect’s presentation of prioritization workshops and a 61‑response survey that identified shared top needs for station projects, including health and operational safety, response time/accessibility, equipment storage and training space. The committee record says the architect found alignment on four of the top five priorities across stakeholder groups and recommended preparing 3–4 options per site that could be mixed and matched at the committee’s June meeting.
The slides presented planning horizons of 30–50 years and recommended that options include both new‑construction and renovation approaches. The presentation also highlighted design priorities such as larger apparatus bay sizes, transition/decontamination areas, efficient layouts and a central training facility. The committee discussed canceling the regular June 11 meeting and instead holding a special meeting on June 24 to review the options and develop preferred scopes for Town Council review.
