Commission grants Lena Fox request to redact address from campaign reports

The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission on Dec. 4 granted a request from Lena Fox to redact her address from two campaign contribution reports, Chair Jay Leach said after reviewing the submitted materials. The filings at issue were contributions to the Nicole Thomas Kennedy campaign and the Kashama Solidarity campaign; staff told the commission one of the contributions used a democracy voucher and the other was for $1.

Commission staff member Jennifer told the panel that staff had contacted the campaigns affected and obtained authorizations to allow staff to redact the address if the commission approved the request. “One of the contributions that Lena Fox made was made using a democracy voucher. The other contribution was for the amount of $1,” Jennifer said. She also said Fox had reported safety concerns, including a stalking incident and what staff described as a violation of a prior restraining order, as the basis for seeking redaction.

Leach said he had reviewed the written materials and found the submissions met the statutory and administrative standards for the requested modification and granted the redaction, also directing that the records be made exempt from public records requests in accordance with the commission’s practice. The commission did not record a separate roll-call vote in the transcript. The order will be signed administratively.
