At the May 4, 2026 regular meeting of the Whitney ISD Board of Trustees, public commenter Amy Teal urged parents, teachers and community members to increase turnout for the upcoming school board elections and to raise awareness about the importance of voting. "She encouraged parents, teachers and community to help educate and lead awareness the importance of an Election," Teal said during public comment.
Teacher Alyssa Mitchell thanked the district for difficult decisions and said her prior experience with student behaviors has helped in Whitney ISD; she urged that "all staff should be training in CPI training," arguing that consistent behavior-management training would support teachers and students. Mitchell also said community support for Dr. Slaughter has inspired a sense of unity among staff and families. The board did not take formal action on the requests during the meeting.
