Council introduces 5% increase to municipal golf-course fees, adds family designation

Council President Boyce introduced Ordinance 12-85-25 on first reading to amend fees for the borough golf course, saying the change is intended to offset rising expenses such as labor and fertilizer and to add a family membership designation that distinguishes in-town from out-of-town residents. "It's a 5% change," Boyce said when asked about the percentage increase.
Speakers described how the course has been run under an outside management company (Kemper Sports) since roughly 2020 and that the facility has been profitable since that management arrangement began. Council members and staff noted membership history—membership was as high as about 500 in the 1980s and is now roughly 242, with an approximate 50/50 split between in-town and out-of-town members. "The course itself is positive. We're making money," Boyce said, and the council scheduled a meeting with management and accounting on Dec. 3 to review the 2026 operating budget and add performance metrics to avoid surprises.
