Madrid board completes organizational appointments, sets salaries and administrative rules for 2025

The Madrid Town Board conducted routine organizational business at the Jan. 8 meeting, approving administrative measures and appointments for 2025. Resolutions included setting town mileage at 70 cents per mile for personal vehicles used on town business; designating WDT and North Country This Week as the official newspapers; designating Community Bank, Madrid branch as the town depository (Emily Losey abstained on that vote); and setting regular board meetings for the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 P.M.
The board appointed Eric Gustafson as Town Attorney with a $4,750 salary; Judy Hargrave as Water & Sewer Billing Clerk ($2,954) and Zoe Hawkins as Collector ($2,954); Kerri O'Bryan as Court Clerk ($14,254); appointed co-town historians; and adopted a salary schedule listing the Supervisor at $11,669, Town Clerk $26,905, Town Justice $12,187, Town Council (each) $2,917, Highway Supt. $43,000, Registrar of VS $1,889, Historian $350, Town Attorney $4,750 and Assessor $16,218. The Supervisor also appointed committee memberships and named deputies (Judy Hargrave and Kerri O'Bryan as deputy town clerks at $17/hr; Rob Rutherford as Deputy Highway Supt.; Emily Losey as Deputy Supervisor).
