Staff brief committee on proposed Algonquin and Golf Road land‑use amendments and TIF districts

Savage said staff are preparing two separate amendments to the land use plan for the Algonquin Road and Golf Road subareas so future land‑use maps better reflect market changes in commercial, office, and residential trends.
Savage also reported the City is preparing to adopt two TIF districts along the Algonquin Road Corridor aimed at improving redevelopment conditions for sites such as Keystone Court, Crossroads of Commerce (Algonquin & IL‑53), Holidome/Holiday Inn, and Southland Shopping Center. He told the committee there will be "significant and ongoing discussion in the City as to the environmental considerations of Data Center land uses," and asked members to be prepared to advise on environmental issues as the potential projects develop.
