Village staff presented the community development annual report and said 2024 permit valuations totaled roughly $373 million, driven by large commercial and multifamily projects.
Rob highlighted major projects including WestRock nearing completion and Uline's H4 headquarters under construction in Prairie Highlands; he said commercial and multifamily valuations ($278 million) outpaced single‑family permit valuation (~$28.5 million) in 2024. Rob described the village's employment base of just over 20,000 jobs, with large employers such as Uline (about 2,400 employees), distribution centers, and manufacturing sites contributing to a diverse local economy.
Rob also described the village's use of tax increment financing districts to spur development, noting active TIDs (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10) and newer TIDs (11 and 12) created in 2024 to support Lakeview Corporate Park and growth near Interstate 94 and Highway 165. The presentation concluded with a TID map and staff invitation to commissioners to raise questions on the development program.
