Trustees approve policy updates, racial-profiling policy and Chapter 313 resolution

The board approved TASB Local Policy Update 124 covering revisions to legal and local policies (financial ethics, investments, intellectual property, employee standards of conduct, gifted and talented, child abuse and neglect, and conduct on school premises); Trustee Raymond Dodd moved approval and Trustee Melissa Halterman seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The board also approved the required Racial Profiling Policy for the WLISD Police Department, with Director of Safety and Security Kyle Sanford present to explain the policy. Additionally, trustees approved a resolution to grant Chapter 313 supplemental payments to the Wink-Loving ISD Education Foundation to support student scholarships; the minutes note the foundation increased scholarship awards to $3,500 in 2023–24. Trustee Chad Evans moved the Chapter 313 resolution, Trustee Carrie Purcell seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
