He outlined operational details of both the current unit and the used 2009 Spartan the committee found: the existing truck carries about 600 gallons of water and a 15‑gallon‑per‑minute pump (as stated in the presentation), while the 2009 Spartan has a larger pump capacity, seating for six and design features that would improve rescue and downhill performance. Chief Moore said the seller reduced its price to $175,000 and that hard transport quotes returned at $4,992. He described other upfit and lighting changes required to meet state standards and said some equipment would be transferable from the old truck to the replacement.
Board members pressed on certification and safety: Chief Moore confirmed Squad 113 had a DOT inspection permitting road use but that the pump was not certified this year and the vendor would not perform a pump test for fear of worsening the condition. He told the board that refurbish work could take eight months to a year and carry greater uncertainty about added hidden damage when the pump and body are removed and inspected.
