City manager warns of fiscal pressure: committee estimates about $12 billion in revenue reductions could affect services

City Manager Frank Martz told the Commission the Revenue Forecasting Committee estimates approximately $12 billion in revenue reductions, a figure he said could ultimately result in service reductions and potentially the closure of one or two parks. He described the challenges staff face in preparing the budget amid uncertainty about the timing and impact of various revenue sources and offered to provide the Committee’s report to the Commission if requested.
Mr. Martz also reminded the Commission of the Liberty Tree planting event scheduled at the library the next morning at 10:00 a.m. and said the City supports the Rosenwald project by committing to pay utility connection charges while the County pursues rezoning of its property. He additionally related an incident in which City employees assisted a general contractor who suffered a medical emergency on a City project and commended the staff for the response.
